The pandemic is having an untold impact on our mental health and wellbeing. I have set myself a challenge of pedalling 600km during my 21 day mandatory quarantine in Hong Kong. Please support me in raising funds for Mind HK, a mental health charity committed to raising awareness and understanding of mental health in Hong Kong.

My Story

I am deeply concerned about the impact the pandemic is having on our mental health, most of all on the young who have now had over a year of their short lives snatched away from them by this terrible virus.  Mental health issues can have a devastating impact on a person's life and yet they can often go undetected for a long time.  It's vital that we raise awareness and understanding of mental health issues and make sure there is support for those who need it.

Being quarantined in a small hotel room in Hong Kong for 21 days on my return from the UK has given me the perfect excuse to raise funds for Mind HK, a mental health charity committed to raising awareness and understanding of mental health in Hong Kong.

Many of you will know that I'm not much of a cyclist and am not exactly thrilled by the prospect of multiple hours sitting on the exercise bike - named "Q" (thanks to the excellent hire company, gymporter) - but I plan to cycle 600km.  This may not sound like much to many of you but according to the bike's little counter, it's roughly 60-90 mins of exercise per day depending on my energy levels! Also, for what it's worth, 600km is about the same distance as:
- going from Hong Kong to Guangzhou 5 times;
- getting halfway to Shanghai from Hong Kong; and
- going from London to Brighton 7 times!
