About Appeal

It has been over a year now that we at Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary have had to close our visitor and volunteer program due to concerns from our community about the spread of the virus. However, our team has continued to work tirelessly to keep KSES running, provide for our 5 elephants and their mahouts, as well as support over 60 elephants in the area that have had to come home due to the lack of tourism. These elephants have had no form of income for over a year and we are continuing to help pay for their food supplies to ensure they have enough to sustain them.

We have decided to set-up this new page to reflect our current situation and our continued struggle. Our running costs each month for just the essentials is atleast 200,000THB. As it is unlikely that we can open this year, we will need to continue to fundraise to cover these costs until around the end of the year. Without this fundraising, we will not be able to continue our work, provide for our own elephants and mahouts or help keep the 60+ village elephants fed.

Right now, the dry season is upon us, and our team, as well as the whole community, is having to make a 3+ hour journey,. several times a week, to find enough food for the elephants. With no income coming through our visitor program, this is a huge strain for us as our foundation has been running at a loss.  We usually get very little support through our fundraisers, so if anyone is in a position to run their own fundraiser, has any contacts with newspapers or has any other ideas of how we can raise these much needed funds at this time, then please do get in touch.

Between now and 16th MAY, all donations will be matched through the  Saphira fund, up to $1,000usd! If you donate during this time, you will double your donation!

Thank you to everyone who is supporting us over this time and we hope to welcome you back in the not too distant future.
